The vetted marketplace
Buy and sell secondhand in South Africa, without the scams.
Every seller is verified. Every payment is protected. Buy items one at a time, or grab a whole bundle from one shop.
No spam. One email when we launch.
How it works
Trust, baked into every step.
Four checkpoints that mean buyers stop bracing for the worst — and sellers actually get repeat customers.
- 01
Sellers get verified
Every seller passes ID and address verification, links a bank account in their own name, and pays a small monthly fee. Bad actors don't make it past the gate.
- 02
Buyers browse with confidence
Search by category, location, or shop. Every listing belongs to a real, accountable person — not a disposable account.
- 03
We hold the payment
Your money sits safely with Stash until your items arrive. Sellers only get paid after you've confirmed receipt or the dispute window closes.
- 04
Sorted out, or refunded
If something's wrong, open a dispute. Real humans review every claim, with the Buyer Protection reserve standing behind legitimate refunds.
Verified sellers
Every seller is ID-checked, address-verified, and pays a small monthly fee. No anonymous accounts.
Held payments
Your money sits safely with Stash until the item arrives and you confirm it's what was promised.

FAQ
The honest answers.
When are you launching?+
We're aiming for a phased launch starting in Cape Town in late 2026, with national rollout shortly after. Join the waitlist and we'll let you know the moment we open seller signups.
Why do sellers pay a monthly fee?+
The subscription funds the verification process and keeps the platform clean. Just as importantly, it filters out one-off scammers — they don't survive the friction of a recurring payment tied to a verified bank account in their own name.
What's the Buyer Protection Fee?+
A small fee (around 5–7% of the item price, capped) charged at checkout. It funds the held-payment infrastructure and a reimbursement pool that stands behind legitimate buyer claims. Without it, there'd be nowhere to turn when something goes wrong.
How does delivery work?+
Stash integrates with the major South African couriers — PUDO, Pargo, The Courier Guy, Aramex. Sellers print a label and drop the package; you track it the whole way. Once it's delivered and you've confirmed receipt (or the dispute window closes), the seller gets paid.
Can I buy multiple items from one shop?+
Yes — bundle-buying is a core feature. Add as many items as you like from a single shop to one cart, with combined shipping and a single payment. Lower cost per item, less hassle, more love for sellers clearing out a wardrobe or a household.
What can I sell on Stash?+
General secondhand goods: clothing, electronics, furniture, books, baby and kids' gear, sporting equipment, homeware. Some categories (firearms, drugs, ivory, counterfeits, suspected stolen goods) are banned outright. The full list will go live with seller signups.
Isn't this just Facebook Marketplace but with extra steps?+
It's built differently from the ground up. Facebook Marketplace doesn't verify anyone, doesn't hold payments, doesn't run disputes, and doesn't refund you when something goes wrong. Every one of those is a Stash feature. The "extra steps" are the entire point.
